These pieces are thrown on the wheel in an earthy red clay, then decorated by hand with white terra sigillata (a very fine slip), oxides, and underglazes to create semi-abstract, illustrative landscapes. The linework is delicately carved into the white terra sigillata with a fine-tipped knife while the work is still leather-hard to let the red clay show through. After the first firing (bisque firing), an oxide is brushed over the lifework, then wiped back to allow settling into the carving. Color is then added with the underglazes and more colored terra sigillata. The work is then glaze fired to cone 5 in an electric kiln.

Microwave safe, however I don’t recommend putting in the dishwasher.
